A key focus of her leadership will be on bringing back to the party those who may have felt disenfranchised, and an unprecedented focus on strengthening youth development, with a firm goal of uniting and reconnecting them with the party’s core values and vision.
“The PDM remains the people’s party,” Green declared. “The time is now to return to the fundamentals of our great party.”
Her words resonated with the audience, highlighting the need for a renewed focus on the principles that have long guided the PDM.
Green also acknowledged the trust placed in her by the members of the party, noting that the unanimous vote in her favor has not gone unnoticed. She pledged to exceed the expectations set before her, striving to lead with integrity, purpose and impact.
As the newly elected chairman, Sabrina Green’s leadership is expected to bring a fresh perspective and renewed energy to the Providenciales Branch and the party, as the PDM continues to position itself as the true voice of the people and the next government of these beautiful Turks and Caicos Islands.

Excited to attend the Grand Opening of the newly renovated PDM Headquarters!

A dedicated party headquarters is crucial for fostering unity, planning strategies, and engaging with our community effectively. It serves as a central hub for our activities, providing a space for collaboration and innovation. Proud to see the People’s Democratic Movement continue to grow and strengthen our efforts for a brighter future. Peoples Democratic Movement.

As the PDM Candidate for Electoral District ED7, and as a law abiding citizen living and residing in the same community, I appeal to the esteemed figures of authority in the Turks and Caicos Islands – the Premier, the British Governor, and the Police Commissioner. It is with a heavy heart and a deep sense of urgency that I call upon you to swiftly address the escalating issue of crime that plagues our beloved nation.

The current state of lawlessness and criminality is tearing at the fabric of our society, planting a growing seed of fear and uncertainty in the hearts of our citizens. Families live in constant distress, businesses struggle under the weight of criminal activities, and the peace of our communities is tormented daily by a sense of helplessness.

Standing Up for Our Local Water Sports Operators

Today, not just in your leader of the PDM, but as your Premier and local leader, I want to address our local water sports operators, entrepreneurs, and those who fought their very livelihoods against a government that has turned its back on them.

Inaction on the PNP government’s part has led to the gradual and intentional decimation of one of the vital industries in the Turks and Caicos Islands, a sector that played an integral part in the success of our tourism product. This is not their policy failure; it is an intentional act that your government has ignored.

How dare the Premier in all of his glory permit colonialists to realize/follow their true intent and annihilate/bury an entire industry? How dare he stand by while they work on having laws made that could better benefit a few individuals to the detriment of so many, with our government in tow? Over 100 of our small but skilled operators, your neighbors, and friends have lost income and dignity. This is happening right in your community and directly affects many of our students, very friends, and loved ones.

How have we allowed this? We cannot accept this, but instead, we must speak up and demand the return of our birthright. How have we allowed foreign organizations to take food out of the mouths of so many business owners? This is a failing not just in government but in our country.

We demand transparency, accountability, and respect!

The PDM is committed to standing up for every local against any laws or interest that wish to see them bypassed and marginalized. While we support an expansion of industries and business interests, it must not be to the detriment of those who have engaged in responsible practice, who seek to compete, and who build our communities.

I immediately invite all Watersports business persons to return to an industry consultation, where we will plan and strategize how we will again secure your livelihoods. We will be engaging in the coming days with hard press to ensure fairness and transparency. We will advocate for legislation that will protect you and your business interests.

  1. Support for Local Operators: We will push to legislate opportunities for local operators to obtain business within the growing tourism sector. Tourism, our largest and most sustainable industry, must be expanded so that our local entrepreneurs can benefit from the opportunities that our economy can offer.

  2. Consumer Education and Awareness: We will educate consumers on what to expect and inform them of local options available to them. We must put forth aggressive and innovative ways to ensure our tourism market grows. This has a direct impact on building business opportunities and facilitating trade relationships.

  3. Legislative Reform: We will review, improve, and amend legislation to protect all citizens, recognizing that some of the most successful countries are those where their policies benefit the majority of their people and are not to the detriment of a few. We will review how tax incentives can be expanded to benefit the overall majority. We will look into how we can regain control of our economy, which has slipped away from us. We will conduct public consultations, listening to our people, our professionals, and our technocrats, ensuring that legislation is passed in the interest of our people.

I stand up for you, and I call on each and every citizen to join us, to join with the Progressive Democratic Party (PDM) in a strong voice, united, and with the strength of our forefathers, to demand better, fairer, and more just laws.

Together, we will achieve a better, brighter future.

Public-private partnership reclaims land in Lower Bight Road

In a demonstration of the collaborative efforts required to implement and deliver targeted initiatives in the Turks and Caicos Islands, the Ports Authority (TCI) along with the Planning Department, Public Works Department (PWD), and the Department of Environment and Coastal Resources (DECR), led a team that successfully reclaimed government-owned land along Lower Bight Road, Providenciales.

The exercise was the culmination of a multi-stage process which started when the authorities engaged with the occupants of the property. Chairman of the Ports Authority, Urban Skippings, members of the Planning Department and the Health Department engaged the occupants in the early morning on Friday, August 25th, 2023. At that time, the individuals were informed that they would need to remove their possessions as those that were on-site at the time were allowed to remain for an additional week.

Once the area was cleared, the government-led team moved swiftly to remove the remaining derelict structures and debris from the site. The site is now clear and ready to be developed for inclusion in the Strategic Land of the PWD.

Justice Carlos Simons, KC, lauded the partnership between the respective parties. “It is a shining example of what can be achieved when Government Departments work together for the betterment of all of the residents of the TCI.”

The Turks and Caicos Islands Government remains committed to ensuring that land across the TCI is properly and responsibly managed and utilized for the betterment of the people of the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Statement from Women in Blue

Dear Sisters,

We are at a pivotal moment in history. Women’s voices are being heard louder and clearer than ever before, and it is our responsibility and privilege to ensure that this momentum not only continues but strengthens. Our collective voice has the power to transform societies, influence policies, and create a world where equality is not just an aspiration but a reality.

First and foremost, let us celebrate the incredible achievements of women who have come before us. Their courage and determination laid the groundwork for the progress we enjoy today. But our journey is far from complete. It’s time to build on their legacy, break new barriers, and forge a path for future generations that is free of discrimination and full of opportunity.

Education and empowerment are at the heart of our mission. Education is the key that unlocks the door to opportunity, allowing us to reach our full potential and contribute meaningfully to our economies and societies.

In the political arena, our participation is crucial. Our perspectives and experiences are invaluable in shaping policies that reflect the needs and aspirations of all citizens. Together, we can ensure that our political systems are inclusive and equitable., I am overwhelmed with pride and hope as I listen to the vision of the female candidates who have been selected to represent the Peoples Democratic Movement in the Upcoming elections. Their journey is not just about politics; it’s about shaping a future where women throughout the Turks and Caicos Islands can stand tall, united, and empowered.

Economic empowerment is another cornerstone of our vision. We must strive for equal pay, fair treatment, and opportunities for advancement in the workplace. We must support each other in entrepreneurship, innovation, and leadership in all sectors. By doing so, we contribute not only to our personal growth but to the economic strength of our communities and Country.

Social change begins with each of us. Let us be champions of equality and justice in our homes, workplaces, and communities. Encourage open dialogue, challenge stereotypes, and support initiatives that promote gender equality. Together, we can dismantle the barriers that hold us back.

We must always remember that our unity is our strength. Let us build networks of support, mentorship, and collaboration. When we lift each other up, we create a formidable force for change. Reach out, connect, and work together to achieve our shared goals.

Finally, remember that every step we take, no matter how small, is significant. Change doesn’t happen overnight, but with persistence and determination, we will achieve the future we envision. Therefore, we must continue to reach out to women throughout our country and encourage them to join our movement as we continue to inspire, support, and empower each other. Together, we will create a world where every woman has the opportunity to thrive and contribute to a brighter future for all.

Title: Injustice Unveiled: Premier Missick's Government Targets Senior Citizen's Unfinished House While Ignoring Widespread Illegal Buildings

I was completely shocked and disheartened by the disturbing case of government overreach and selective enforcement that came to light as the Premier and his administration callously demolished the unfinished house of a senior citizen for failing to keep her crown land lease payments up to date, while turning a blind eye to the multitude of illegal buildings, many constructed by squatters, that continue to blight government land across Providenciales and the entire country. This heinous act not only highlights this PNP government’s misplaced priorities but also underscores its blatant disregard for the well-being and rights of its own citizens, particularly the most vulnerable among them.

Premier Missick’s government decision to target the unfinished house of a senior citizen, instead of addressing the rampant issue of illegal buildings and squatters on government land, is a gross abuse of power and a betrayal of the trust placed in the government to uphold justice and fairness. By weaponizing government departments against its own citizens, the Premier has again and his 14-1 administration demonstrated a callous disregard for the plight of Turks & Caicos Islanders most in need of protection and support.
The demolition of the senior citizen’s home also stands as a stark symbol of the government’s failure to prioritize the welfare of our citizens, particularly those who are most vulnerable and in need of assistance. Rather than addressing the root causes of illegal construction and squatting on government land, the Premier and his government have opted to target individuals who may be least equipped to defend themselves, perpetuating a cycle of injustice and inequality that must be condemned in the strongest terms.
In response to this blatant injustice and abuse of power, the People’s Democratic Movement (PDM) Party strongly condemns the Premier and his government for their flagrant mistreatment of our citizens. The PDM Party stands in solidarity with our wonderful senior citizen whose home was needlessly demolished and demands immediate
accountability for this grave injustice.
Furthermore, the PDM Party has put forward a series of solutions to assist citizens who may find themselves in similar distressing situations, particularly our most vulnerable citizens. These solutions include the establishment of a dedicated support system for seniors and other vulnerable individuals facing housing crises, the implementation of fair and transparent processes for resolving land lease issues, and the creation of avenues for citizens to seek assistance and redress without fear of retribution or marginalization.
It is deeply troubling that the Premier and his government have failed to provide adequate answers regarding the decision to demolish the senior citizen’s home, despite inquiries from the PDM Party seeking transparency and accountability. The lack of forthcoming information only serves to underscore the government’s disregard for the concerns and well-being of Turks & Caicos Islanders, particularly those who are most in need of our protection and support.
I conclude by reiterating, that the Premier’s and his government’s demolition of one of our beloved senior citizen’s homes, while ignoring the rampant issue of illegal buildings and squatters on government land is an intolerable injustice that demands urgent redress. The PDM Party remains committed to fighting for the rights of
all our citizens, particularly the most vulnerable among us, and to advocating for a fair, just, and compassionate society where all individuals are treated with dignity, respect, and fairness.
It is imperative for the government, elected by the people, to prioritize the needs and well-being of its citizens above all else and to work towards a more inclusive and equitable future for all.

Peoples Democratic Movement
As the next representative for the People’s Democratic Movement (PDM) and candidate for Electoral District 6 (ED6), I deeply concerned and disheartened by the unacceptable state of our public schools on the opening day of the new academic year. Reports from the Ianthe Pratt Primary School in The Bight, Providenciales, indicate deplorable conditions: overgrown grass, unpainted buildings, and neglected infrastructure, with rusty and hazardous container classrooms that pose serious health risks to both students and teachers.
It is alarming that while our schools are left in such a state, we hear claims from the government of having the “biggest budget ever.” As citizens, we have a right to know: where is this money being spent? The people demand transparency and accountability from those in power. It is unacceptable that our children’s right to a safe, healthy, and conducive learning environment is being compromised while the government boasts of record funding.
Moreover, it is alleged that the Enid Capron Primary School, situated in the constituency of the Hon. Rachel Taylor, the Minister of Education, has received special attention and preparation for the new school year, while other institutions are left to languish in neglect. This raises serious questions about fairness and equal treatment in the distribution of resources across our education system.
I call upon the government to provide an immediate explanation for this gross neglect and to outline what steps are being taken to address the urgent needs of all public schools in Providenciales and across our islands. The children and teachers of the Turks and Caicos Islands deserve nothing less than our full commitment to providing them with a safe, well-maintained educational environment that supports their growth and education.
I am committed to holding this government accountable and advocating for equal treatment and better conditions in all our public schools. We must ensure that the future of our children is never jeopardized by political favoritism or mismanagement of funds. The time for action is now—our children, teachers, and communities deserve better.
Let us stand together and demand the transparency and accountability we are entitled to. Our children’s future is at stake, and we must ensure it is secured.

The Citizen's Call

ED 9- Another Failed Promise

Statement to the Press, Hon. Karen Malcolm.

I must ask the question: When will this madness stop?

It is with a heavy heart that I speak to the people of the Turks and Caicos Islands. Firstly, I must
express my sympathy to all families who have experienced the tragic loss of a loved one to gun
violence, including my own. This issue is deeply personal to me, and I empathize with those who
are enduring the pain of losing someone to such senseless violence.
As a nation we are on track to surpass the worst year on record for shooting deaths and murders.
Turks and Caicos, where have we gone wrong? Why is there so much hate among our young men?
Thirty-one senseless killings in nine months, an average of three per month. This is unacceptable.
What are our Governor and the Government doing to stop this madness? Crime is not a political
issue, but the government holds the purse strings and is better positioned to call for more skilled
manpower, and has a larger platform to address our youth, reassure our people, and motivate
others. This crime situation cannot continue, we must all come together and play our part to stop
the violence. We must join hand in hand to end this crisis.

We are a God-fearing nation, and as such, we must seek divine intervention in this situation. We must pray for our youth; we must pray for reconciliation. We must ask God’s forgiveness and reach out in love to those who have strayed from the path. Many are grappling with issues rooted in childhood, and early intervention through evangelizing and counseling is essential. Mentorship is urgently needed for our troubled and at-risk youth, and the church also has a critical role to play, going beyond its walls and reaching the lost at any cost. I ask our brothers and sisters in Christ to visit those who are grieving at this time, to offer prayers that can help diffuse tensions. Our young men are grieving in destructive ways and desperately need our help.

Our national security falls under the responsibility of our Governor, who has the authority to secure additional resources, especially intelligence and tactical experts. I openly ask Her Excellency to seek additional strategies to tackle this problem; we are in crisis. I call on the Commissioner of Police to make his presence felt among the people he serves. All hands are required to address this issue.

To our Government: we need you to act swiftly by providing all necessary resources to the police. But beyond that, we need policies and programs that will make a real impact on the lives of our youth. This fight against crime is both a sprint and a marathon. Programs like community-based crime prevention focusing on youth empowerment, job training, and mentorship can address the root causes of crime, such as poverty and unemployment, offering young people an alternative path to success.

It should be mandatory to flag at-risk boys and girls through increased guidance counselors, school-based social workers, and police liaison officers. We must teach discipline, love, and respect for themselves and others.

As former Minister of Education, I was part of a delegation that visited Bermuda to learn from their success in combating gun crimes and gangs. Much of what we learned and began implementing is still relevant. A National Trade School remains a key solution and an urgent tool for combating crime. By giving our youth marketable skills, we provide them with confidence and purpose while reducing gang recruitment.

We must also support programs like Chance for Change, which assists those re-entering society from prison. Too often, new governments abandon programs from previous administrations, but this fight against crime must be a continuous effort. All valid ideas must be carried forward if we are to see real change.

To those committing these crimes: I ask you to look in the mirror and choose life. Death is inevitable if you do not change your ways, but God can help you. Put down the guns, take up a trade, and think of your family who may soon be mourning your loss. This is not a game—choose life.

A PDM Government is committed to ensuring our Trade School is operational and providing at-risk youth with a path forward, including opportunities to start their own businesses after certification. We will also refocus our prison to function as a true rehabilitative institution.

If we do not act now, we risk perpetuating this deadly cycle for another generation.

May God help us and may God bless the Turks and Caicos Islands.
