Press Statement by Ralph Higgs, All-Island Candidate for the PDM
PNP’s Disregard for Rules Reflects a Disregard for the People
The blatant disregard for the rules and regulations governing the electricity company by the Deputy Premier and PNP candidate is both shocking and unacceptable. This act underscores the PNP’s growing arrogance and their belief that they are above the law—a dangerous precedent for any government.
This behavior highlights the PNP’s desperate attempt to distract the public from their failed record of governance. Instead of addressing the real issues affecting the people of the Turks and Caicos Islands—such as crime, the rising cost of living, and the housing crisis—they are engaging in over-the-top campaign gimmicks. It is a clear attempt to deflect from their inability to deliver meaningful results during their time in office.
The lavish spending and flaunting of wealth in this campaign are reminiscent of the 2003 and 2007 PNP campaigns, which, as history has shown, were heavily funded by wealthy expatriates. The cost of those elections was ultimately borne by the people of the Turks and Caicos Islands, with public assets and favorable concessions handed over in return for campaign contributions.
The people of the Turks and Caicos deserve better. They deserve a government that prioritizes their needs, respects the laws of the land, and serves with humility and integrity. The PNP’s arrogance is a stark reminder that we must reject their failed leadership and choose a party committed to transparency, accountability, and real progress for our people.
On February 7th, I urge you to reject the arrogance of the PNP. Vote for the People’s Democratic Movement. Together, we will restore trust in leadership and ensure a brighter future for all.
